Action needed on Badnell's Pit
|
Local MP Theresa May has joined with newly elected local Ward councillor Simon Dudley to call for local residents to make sure they have their say on Michael Shanly’s proposals for Badnell’s Pit.
Theresa explained, ‘Michael Shanly proposes 402 homes included both houses and flats and a nearly 50 unit sheltered housing scheme on Badnell’s Pit. This is far too many. It will put too much pressure on the local infrastructure including schools and doctors’ surgeries and will clog up local roads. There are already 200 new homes being built on the Miller Homes site on Bridge Road, and together that would mean up to 1,200 more cars on local roads. What’s more 5 storey blocks of flats are quite wrong for the Badnell’s Pit site as they change the character of the area. Many residents have already raised concerns with me about Michael Shanly’s proposals and I urge everyone concerned to send their comments to the Council’s Planning Department by 28 June 2007. The address is Maidenhead Development Control – Major Projects, The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, The Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 1RF. I believe this development is wrong for Maidenhead. Michael Shanly has been determined for many years to develop this site. His interests are not the same as local residents and we must make sure that the voice of local people is heard.” |
