MP opposes Prescott’s plans for White Waltham
|
Today Maidenhead MP Theresa May wrote to John Prescott to object to proposals contained in the annex to Planning Policy Statement 3 (PPS3) which would designate airfields as Brownfield sites.
Theresa commented; “I am concerned that these changes could pave the way for airfields like White Waltham to be concreted over and turned into housing estates. At the moment White Waltham is protected because the planning guidance specifically exempts airfields from the definition of Brownfield sites (i.e. previously developed land). The latest proposal from John Prescott, known as PPS3, will remove that exemption thus reducing the protection for White Waltham. “I am strongly opposed to any development on this site and have written to John Prescott to object to the way in which this change was introduced.” |
