MP Welcomes Crown Estate Rethink Over Valley Gardens
|
Today local MP Theresa May welcomed the decision by the Crown Estate to listen to the vigorous campaign fought by local residents and defer their plans to fence off Valley Gardens in Windsor and charge an entrance fee. Theresa May had also written to the Crown Estate to raise local concerns over these changes.
Theresa May commented; “I received a number of emails and letters from local people who were furious that this ancient site would be fenced in and an admissions fee levied. I am delighted that the Crown Estate are delaying this move to consult properly with the local community. “Valley Gardens has been open to the public for generations and if they have to fence in the gardens I believe a residents permit scheme should be introduced to ensure that local people can access this important amenity easily and without charge.” |
