Benyon presents massive petition to Parliament
|
As part of his campaign to protect Sub-Post Offices across West Berkshire , Newbury MP, Richard Benyon, presented a petition of 5292 names to Parliament yesterday.
Holding the weighty bundle of signatures, he told the House that the thousands who signed his petition indicated the strength of feeling across West Berkshire at the Government's intention to close 2500 Sub-Post Offices. Following the presentation of his petition Richard said, "The people who lose out when a sub post office closes are the elderly, the infirm and others who do not have the means to travel to the next village or across town. The Government has to listen." 22/05/07 |
