MPs Meet Transport Secretary Over FGW
|
Next week on Wednesday 28th February Reading West MP, Martin Salter, will be joining Thames Valley MPs at a cross-party meeting with Transport Secretary, Douglas Alexander, to press his constituents’ concerns over the December 10th changes to the First Great Western (FGW) train timetable, which has led to a reduction in services to Tilehurst, Pangbourne, Reading West and Theale stations.
Martin Salter said: “I met with First Great Western’s Managing director Alison Forster on January 11th and was promised a review of the timetable changes that have had such a devastating effect on stations in my constituency. "I then had a follow-up meeting with FGW managers a month ago who promised to come back to me with possible changes to reduce overcrowding and improve peak-hour services. All their promises have so far proved utterly worthless as they have still failed to bring forward the necessary timetable improvements. "Unless I receive a formal response by the time of the meeting with Douglas Alexander I will have no hesitation in pressing him to consider stripping FGW of their franchise. If this company cannot run a decent train service then it is time to find someone who can.” 21/02/07 |
