Salter gets fit and healthy at the True Food Co-op
|
Reading West MP Martin Salter visited the True Food Club at Downshire Square on Tuesday 3rd April to congratulate all the True Food Co-op volunteers on their excellent work and to wish them every success with their lottery bid for extra funding.
Martin Salter MP said: “I am so impressed with the organisation of the True Food Co-op and I genuinely want to thank and congratulate all those staff and volunteers who have made this so successful. "It is amazing what they have done in such a short time and it is a superb service of Fair Trade and organic foods that they are supplying to the people of the Reading area. Often people are unable to afford expensive health foods all the time but the True Food Co-op has blown the myth that you have to be rich to be healthy.” He added: “What with me buying healthfoods and take part in the Reading Half Marathon a few weeks ago people will be thinking I’ve turned over a new leaf!” Paul Gittings, Chair of the Healthier Reading Partnership and Sports Liaison Councillor for Reading said: “Exercise is absolutely essential for a healthy lifestyle but the other key component is plenty of healthy and wholesome foods in the diet. The True Food Co-op offers a fantastic service for the people of Reading – you can pop in off the street and buy organic foods of all types at reasonable prices. I’d urge everyone to pop along and give them a go.” Chris Aldridge, True Food Co-op Member said: “It’s over two years since we launched the True Food Co-op in Reading and ever since it has gone from strength to strength. We have won awards, got a depot to store our food and a lorry running on biodiesel, a brand new website at http://www.truefood.coop/ and more and more customers coming to our local organic markets. The best thing though is the amazing participation of so many local folk and the pride we feel in providing healthy and cheap organic foods to people across Reading.” 05/04/07 |
