End of Hosepipe Ban Welcomed
Rob Wilson, Member of Parliament for Reading East, today welcomed the end of the Thames Water hosepipe ban.
He said:"This will come as a relief to many of my constituents as this was probably the longest hosepipe ban on record. "However, we must not let up on the pressure on Thames Water to improve its performance particularly in the area of fixing leaking pipework. I hope the company that has taken over Thames Water will invest heavily in infrastructure, because it desperately needs it. From my discussions with the Chief Executive, I am confident at this early stage that it will. "With global warming now accepted by the scientific community we all need to do more to save water. That's why Thames Water will be taking my house to task to ensure that I am practising what I preach with regards to water consumption. The company will be doing a full analysis to see how much water I could save!" Thames Water is Headquartered in the Reading East Parliamentary constituency. 17/01/07
