Wilson Celebrates Chinese New Year
|
Rob Wilson, Member of Parliament for Reading East, was delighted to join Chinese students and members of Reading ’s Chinese community on Friday (16 February) to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
Around 300 guests attended the festivities at the Palmer Building on the Reading University campus to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Pig, which is said to bring wealth in Chinese culture. During the evening Mr Wilson was treated to performances of songs and poetry in both English and Cantonese and shared some traditional Chinese dumplings with other guests. Rob Wilson commented: “We are fortunate in Reading to have such a diverse mix of cultures and I was delighted to share the New Year celebrations with some of Reading ’s many Chinese residents. I hope that the Year of the Pig is a prosperous one for all of my Reading Constituents” 19/02/07 |
