Rob Wilson attends magistrates court competition
|
Reading East MP , Rob Wilson , was pleased to join students from across the area at the Reading heat of the Magistrates' Court Mock Trial Competition last Friday at the Reading Magistrates Court.
This very successful competition, which is now in its 14th year, is organised by the Citizenship Foundation in partnership with the Magistrates' Association and Department for Constitutional Affairs. The competition is designed to complement Key Stage 3 in the National Curriculum on “what the Courts Do” and is part of schools' Citizenship Training. Speaking after the event Rob said "I was delighted to attend this competition heat and witness local school pupils learning about our legal system in action. "When we are so used to hearing about the small number of young people who get in trouble with the law it was refreshing to see young people taking the opportunity to show off their great talent and making a positive contribution. I congratulate all schools that took part and especially those that are through to the Berkshire finals." 19/03/07 |
