Trust status brilliant news for Reading
|
Reading East MP, Rob Wilson, today congratulated Berkshire NHS Trust on becoming a Foundation Trust. Mr Wilson was notified by the independent regulator of NHS Trusts that it would be a Foundation Trust from 1st May 2007.
Mr Wilson said: “This is fantastic news for Reading and Berkshire and I congratulate the chief executive and her excellent staff. "This means that our local trust will be free from central Government control, will be able to focus its efforts on local services and not have its budgets raided by central Government to prop up other Trusts that have run up big deficits. "This will make it a much more locally focused organisation, one that responds to local needs rather than endless Government directives.” Only this year, the Government raided the Trust’s coffers to the tune of £12 million, causing cuts in local services. 01/05/07 |
