Wilson welcomes victory over clampers
Just one week after Reading East MP Rob Wilson wrote to a Slough clamping firm to complain about their heavy handed tactics he was today celebrating a decision to cease clamping operation at the Station Shopping Park on the corner of Caversham Road and Vastern Road.
The Managing Agents of the site have now posted notices offering refunds to those who were unfairly clamped while visiting the Royal Mail collection office. Royal Mail also now has three dedicated parking slots in the car park next to their office. Rob said, “I am very pleased that common sense has prevailed quickly in this instance. It was in no-ones interest to deter otherwise law-abiding car users from using this car park to visit local shops or the Royal Mail office. "I have no doubt that the outcry in the local press and my intervention with the company all combined to make the owners of the retail park see sense. I have written to the managing agents to praise their decision and I would urge local people who want a refund to write to the company and copy me in.”
