Wilson welcomes smoking ban
|
Reading East MP, Rob Wilson will be marking the implementation of the 1st July smoking ban in public places in England with a visit to Reading Night Club “The After Dark” on London Street.
Rob has a long track record of supporting a ban on smoking in enclosed public spaces and has welcomed the government legislation. Indeed he tried to introduce a similar ban in Reading Borough at a Council meeting in 2003, but it was rejected by Labour Councillors. Last year Rob accepted the role as the South East "Champion" for the Lung Cancer Coalition, one of whose aims is to dramatically reduce deaths through smoking. Mr Wilson said: "I have campaigned vigorously over many years to see this happen. This smoking ban will save thousands of lives every year and reduce the misery felt by the families who have to watch their loved ones die in horrific circumstances." 28/06/07 |
