General Election candidates for Berkshire 2010.
Let's start with a summary and comparison with the General Election 2005. Berkshire has 8 constituencies and an average of 7 candidates standing in each constituency in the 2010 elections. 6 of the 8 seats are conservative held and hopefully we’ll see some shifting sands in 2010. We had an above average turnout of 63.9% in 2005 with a total of 344,376 votes cast. Representing just under 1.3% of the national total of 27,110,727 voters (61.3% of eligible voters) 1 seat not conservative was Reading West held by Martin Salter who is bowing out gracefully in 2010. 1 seat held by a conservative is being fought by a new conservative candidate as the previous one completely took the piss and in my opinion should be banged up. Obviously he is not being sent to clink, instead he and his Mrs will be paid off handsomely and then given a stonking pension. Does this work for you? Well keep voting Labour and Conservative and nothing will change. 14 of the 55 candidates in 2010 were involved in the 2005 elections, 6 winners, 2 other front runners, leaving 6 who had a go in 2005 coming back for more in 2010 and to these candidates I say bloody good show. It is only through persistence that any candidate will have any chance of moving through the ranks into the top spot. Giving up isn’t an option to true champions and many of the top 3 party entries are new faces. 67% of the top 3 party candidate are new faces ... what does that say to you? The most persistent candidates are the Green Party with 3 candidates making a comeback fight. Hats off to the Greens ... It will also be interesting to see if the draw makes a difference in the elections. If your name is top do people just tick the box so they can get back to online bingo?
