Vote for democracy in Stourbridge W. Midlands

I am Alun Nicholas Independent Candidate for Stourbridge, West Midlands

Why am I standing?

I believe in democracy, true democracy, 'of the people, by the people'

Democracy where your representatives do just that:
• where they represent you,
• where they are responsible to their constituents,
• where they work to promote the interests of their constituents and
• where they vote in the House of Commons for the benefit of their constituents.

But surely all MPs do that?

If the last couple of decades of British politics have shown anything, it's that a growing proportion of MPs seem to have forgotten all about those people that put them into Westminster in the first place.

Too often MP's agendas and behaviours appear driven at best by their party's blinkered policies and bullying whips, a desire to move from the back benches and at worst by their corporate or trade union funders.

Most shockingly the 'cash for honours' and 'expenses' scandals seem to have shown that some seem to be driven by greed, blatant cronyism or cynical personal gain.

I am a businessman, NOT a career politican. I have worked in the real world, with all the challenges and realism of running a small business. I have NOT gone from student to student activist to party 'gofer' to councillor to MP

Having lived here all my life, I LOVE and have a passion for Stourbridge and the surrounding area, it's an area with a proud history and it MUST have a great future ahead of it.

And I want to ensure this great future happens. I would work tirelessly for Stourbridge to ensure that decisions at Westminster, be they international, national or local, are in the best interest of Stourbridge and the Country.

After all, we all work for our bosses, and my bosses would be YOU the people of Stourbridge.
